The longest journey starts ...
... with a footstep. Tonight was wonderful. I felt like getting out of the house, so I rang some friends. They were all busy so I just left and went to Brunswick Street. I wasn't sad to be on my own, but happy, looking forward to what might happen. Such a change from the past.
A Nasty Martini and cake at Polly, followed by a coffee at Nova. I was reading "The Books of Magic" by Neil Gaiman and the waitress at Nova struck up a conversation with me about going to Minotaur with her boyfriend and seeing the huge range of "comics" :-) That was nice ... I enjoyed every moment of it. It was so natural, and she even was a bit nervous about talking with me. I sensed she liked me, which was nice.
The feeling of freedom is palpable. It's incredible. And like Suzanne said today, I *do* feel like my masculine side is coming out and being felt.
Things I'd like to do:
1. Keep writing. That first verse I've done is not too bad ... I have to make sure I follow it up with 2 or 3 more decent verses ... then I'll have finished something! :-)
2. Write some music. Sitting at the keyboard the other night, I could feel it's all still there inside me. I just need to put it down and work on arrangement and drum parts.
3. Work on my photography project. I'm so glad people are understanding my photos. I would like to work on my style and practise taking photos of people. But my little project won't take too much, and it'll be great to have finished that and cross it off my list!
I'm going to France and the UK in March to see Garbage!!!! :-D Got my Paris ticket, and then Rob from trash-talk offered me a ticket to the London show the next day ... I said yes, without thinking! I love this new found freedom! :-) Now to organise flights and get accommodation planned. It should be fabulous.
I have the kids from tomorrow night, so it'll be fun to move back to the father role for a week or so.
time for bed.
